Chiropractic care in Ascot Vale and Moonee Ponds

Chiropractic is a natural, non-surgical and medication-free health practice. The underlying aim is to put your body in the best position to heal itself.

A chiropractor is trained to examine and treat problems of the bones, muscles and joints. A specific treatment plan can improve any areas of weakness that are discovered.

People visit a chiropractor to get help for a range of conditions including back pain, neck pain, headache, migraine and sports injuries.

At Unleashed Health, we provide outstanding chiropractic care in Ascot Vale, Moonee Ponds and surrounds. Here’s what you can expect.

What to expect in your initial
chiropractic consultation

Your Ascot Vale chiropractor will:

  • ask you to complete a confidential health questionnaire

  • perform a thorough physical examination to determine what is going on, which will typically involve looking at your posture, performing a range of motion assessment (seeing how you move), palpating (touching) your spine and the area of complaint to discover what is going on, testing the strength of muscles and performing some diagnostic tests (orthopaedic and neurological tests), and

  • ask for diagnostic imaging (if it’s clinically required).

Treatment may or not be given in the initial consultation depending on what is discovered.

Please allow 45 minutes for this consultation.

What to expect at the report of findings
(second chiropractic visit)

Your Ascot Vale chiropractor will:

  • explain your exam results

  • show and explain any diagnostic images or tests

  • create a plan for treating you, and

  • start treating you (if chiropractic can help you).

By the end of the second visit you should know what’s going on, what needs to be done, how long will it take, and what the cost is.

Please allow 40 minutes for this consultation.

What to expect in your regular visits

These visits will vary from person to person and will be specific to your presentation.

They will usually consist of a brief discussion and physical assessment to determine progress. You will then undergo your regular treatment regime which may include elements of the following: spinal manipulations, soft tissue techniques, dry needling, stretches and rehabilitative exercise.

Please allow 15 minutes for these visits. However, if you need extra time your chiropractor will spend the time required to ensure the best outcome for you.

Chiropractic defined

The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines chiropractic as “a health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the neuro-musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. There is an emphasis on manual techniques, including joint adjustment and/or manipulation with a particular focus on subluxations”.

Australian chiropractors complete a minimum of five years of university study, and are registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia (AHPRA).
